As we get busier, custom work becomes more difficult to do, but I LOVE IT. Transforming family heirlooms into wearable treasures is at the center of our craft. This project involved making three sets of necklaces and earrings for a set of granddaughters. A matriarch remembering her mother's buttons, now in a drawer with the thread still attached. I find particular joy in working with especially small unused items like buttons and charms - like these sets of Victorian cutout and faceted glass drop buttons.
This customer knew exactly what she wanted - silver chain with black and gold highlights to match the button. We made a set of three wearable treasures for the next generation to celebrate a century of family stories and to serve as a memorial to a remarkable woman. And here is the finished product!
